MASSAGE THERAPY

What Kind of Massage Do You Offer?

  1. I use a combination of Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial and sports massage techniques in my sessions, alternating between firm effleurage and petrissage strokes to warm the tissues and increase circulation, and deep pressure techniques like compression and cross-fiber friction to address knots, adhesions or trigger points that only respond to deeper work

  2. I always check in with you when working more deeply, and never go deep just for the sake of going deep

How Long of a Massage Should I Book?

  1. 60 minutes: Time enough to thoroughly address two or three main areas of concern, or to do a brisk full-body massage

  2. 75 minutes: The duration I usually recommend, as it allows enough time to perform a slow-paced full-body massage, with extra attention to two or three main areas

  3. 90 minutes: Time enough for a spacious, full-body, deep-tissue massage with extra attention to several areas of your choice

Where are the sessions conducted?

  1. Most of my clients come to my professional studio on the Upper West Side, which is conveniently located at:

  2. 155 W. 72nd Street, #601
    New York, NY  10023

  3. House calls may be available for an additional fee if you have your own table (see rates).

What are some of the benefits of massage?

  1. As a general wellness modality, massage therapy can reduce stress, eliminate physical tension, improve circulation, and enhance overall feelings of well-being

  2. The therapeutic benefits of massage therapy are extensive, and have been well-documented (read some of the documented benefits)

  3. If you lead an active lifestyle, spend a lot of time working out, or participate in athletics of any kind, massage therapy can also help increase muscle recovery time, increase flexibility, flush out metabolites and other toxins, and reduce post-workout soreness

  4. If you are recovering from an injury, massage therapy has been shown to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, support the immune system, align scar tissue as it is being laid down, and help speed healing time

  5. For these reasons and more, many people today incorporate regular massage into their wellness regimen, coming in for a session once per week, every other week, or once per month
